Wet Walks

I've had some time off this week 'half term' and it's been lovely to just have some time at home. I've been trying to make sure Inca gets some nice walks despite the miserable weather.
The paths have been covered in mud and puddles- great news for dogs but not for me (I realised I had a wet foot- my Joules wellies leak!)
The woods look beautiful at the moment with all the Autumn colours.

I'm in school today doing some planning for the lessons I'm due to teach (MATHS week 1) introducing the children (Year 1) to money! I'm enjoying the course but it is hard work, my time in school is great but the uni part is a drag. I've decided that I need to try and manage my time wisely and try to make a little bit of time for my crafts. I bought the Mollie Makes Christmas Craft Book to bring some inspiration and get me in the mood for Christmas, and the Cath Kidston Gift Guide has also popped through the letter box!!!!
I hope you're all well and still reading my blog despite my lack of posts!

Still here....

I am still here- uni and school placements are in full swing and the work is starting to mount up!
I'm meant to be doing some work but can't help letting my mind drift.....

Cath Kidston

I've liked Cath Kidston for several years, and I love going in her shops! Today I have been looking through a collection of her magazines (I like to look back at the old ones). I love the use of colours and print, and every page is so pretty! Some things are a ridiculous price, but I simply wait for the sales! As yet I haven't had a 'bad' item, the things I've purchased have lasted. How do you feel about Cath Kidston products? I'd love to hear you think.
Anyway here are some pics to inspire.....
I might take some photos of the Cath Kidston items I have and share those with you.
Thanks for reading x

the weekend

On Friday our bags were packed for a weekend at the boat!

I had a lovely relaxing weekend which included some reading, baking, walking, crochet & gardening  (we now have a little garden area by our mooring!)

On Sunday we had a nice suprise as some fellow boaters came to say 'hello' and brought us some homemade scones-yummy!

The sun has been in and out, with wind & rain showers-very confusing!
What's a girl to wear? Today for me it was a pretty dress with a cotton cardigan and a thin parka for the occasional showers.

A sunny morning

Today I didn't start work until 10:30, which meant I had some time before work to....
sit in the sun and finish reading my book 'Katie Fforde: Living Dangerously'

catch up with some crochet

do some washing and peg it out to dry in the sun!

All change!

The weather has eventually changed from rain to sunshine.

And my life is going to change.....
I have now got a place on a PGCE course, so I can become a primary school teacher!!
(I was high on a reserve list, which I didn't know about- as the uni weren't allowed to tell me)

Finally I am hoping my strawberries will change from green to red!

Thanks for reading- enjoy the sunshine x

A Weekend At Home

I’ve had a lovely weekend at home. Some cleaning and tiding along with baking and making.
On Saturday I decided to make some more marmalade- this is my 3rd batch and I probably won’t make any more this year (it seems to take a long time!) My marmalade is popular amongst family and friends so I use it for gifts.
I use a Rachel Allen recipe whereby you boil up the fruit first and then remove pulp, liquidise then add back to the pan.

I love to use labels and covers to make them pretty!

I'm cooking for family today so I bought some fresh berries to make a special dessert for after Sunday lunch.
This cake is made using a combination of recipe's so I guess its kinda my own creation. A rich chocolate sponge base with creme fraiche and fresh berries on top- perhaps some cream on the side to serve! yum.

I hope you've all had a nice weekend x

Craft Caravan

Lots of people have a 'craft room' or 'craft corner' in their homes, however I don't have a spare room for my crafting so instead I have a 'craft caravan'. My caravan has been neglected lately as I haven't had much free time at home, when not working we have been away on the boat. So on my day off I decided to give my caravan a 'freshen up' so that hopefully I will be spending more time in there on crafty projects.
(it was a dull and rainy day so apologies for the poor photos)
As you can see the caravan needs a good tidy and a bit of a de clutter- but despite the stacks of fabric, beads, buttons etc I know where everything is! I love spending time in here.
Whilst cleaning the caravan and moving piles of magazines and cushions I decided that I need to revamp the little caravan starting with some new curtains. I have enough curtain tape left from making curtains for the boat so decided to look through my hoard of fabric and find something to use. I found 2 vintage bed sheets bought from the charity shop for a grand total of £1.95, so all I need to buy is some lining fabric.
The fabric is retro/vintage but luckily in very good condition so perfect to hang at the caravan windows. The brown/mustard colour should match the original caravan seat cushions well.
I'm excited to get making and see the end result!
Thanks for reading and welcome to my new followers x
